Combat Accessories
Bayonets and other combat attachments are frequently used by the Imperium’s military forces, and are quite often found elsewhere. Usually, a simple knife bayonet is used, although more exotic variants also exist.
Combat Accessories:
Combat accessories can be fitted to most basic-sized weapons, in which case the weapon’s Encumbrance value is increased (possibly affecting accuracy). When used in close combat, the weapon uses statline given here, rather than the usual rifle butt statline.

Axe Bayonet
More savage troops may prefer to use an axe bayonet instead of the standard knife type. Little more than an axe-head slotted onto the end of a rifle, axe bayonets make for unwieldy close combat weapons, but are certainly better than nothing.
Bayonet
By the simple addition of a knife to the muzzle of a rifle, a gun can become a crude spear. Bayonets are best used on the charge, although they are vitally important in the close-up melee of a trench war, and most military units give their riflemen some form of bayonet to use.
Knife: When removed from the weapon, a bayonet can be used as a knife. A hand-held bayonet uses all the same stats as a normal knife, except that a bayonet has a higher Encumbrance value.
Chainblade
Most human soldiers have difficulty firing rifles fitted with heavy and unbalancing chainblades. Additionally, the weapon cannot normally be removed and used as a knife, in the manner of a common bayonet, because there is no handle with which to hold it safely. Therefore, very few Imperial units make use of chainblades, the exceptions including certain Space Marine chapters.
Specialist Weapon: Chainblades require the Specialist Weapon – Chain ability.
