Adeptus Apothecaria
(Basic) Adeptus Apothecaria – Novice |
|||||||||
With the exception of a few universities and self-taught practitioners, the Apothecaria trains the vast majority of the Imperium’s doctors. Apothecaria schools don’t just teach medicine, but also instil a love for the Emperor and the Imperium into its students. The outcome of this is that, should a rebellion occur, many apothecaries will remain loyal to the Imperium, thus denying the rebels much-needed medical services once Imperial armed forces arrive to restore order. The novices of the Apothecaria are highly educated, most being graduates of either the Schola Progenium or a secular universitariate. It may take several further years of study in the sciences of surgery, diagnosis, humours and bloodletting before they can claim to be adepts, but novices can often be found working as junior apothecaries in large city hospitals. |

(Advanced) Adeptus Apothecaria – Adept |
|||||||||
Adept apothecaries are highly respected among Imperial society, since they are among the few who have any understanding of how the human body works. As such, they can potentially charge vast amounts for their services and become incredibly wealthy, at although the poor will lack medical treatment. Some planets rein in their apothecaries by forcing them to spend at least some their time working for a planetary health service financed by taxation, but these services are often riddled with corruption and incompetence that again penalises the poor who cannot afford private medical care. As a result, some conscientious apothecaries will spend time working for charity hospitals or dispensing aid directly to the needy. |
